What is Multivariable Control?
In process feedback control, executing control while handling two or more signals simultaneously is called multivariable control.
Necessity and Benefits of Multivariable Control
In complex systems, single-point control using only a main signal (such as a temperature signal) often fails to satisfy system responsiveness or stability. In such cases, production efficiency (costs) for the product (equipment) suffers, resulting in significant production losses.
On the other hand, multivariable control primarily captures the main signal while also monitoring other related signals, altering control actions as needed. This ensures that system responsiveness and stability requirements are met, thereby improving the production efficiency (cost) of the product (equipment).

The Ethernet-based SuperG exchanges information with various PLC (remote I/O) and other devices via diverse Ethernet communications to realize multivariable control.

Resilient to Unstable Environments such as Disturbances
SuperG is an optimal multivariable controller for building disturbance and interference rejection systems. By introducing fuzzy logic (rule-based reasoning) on PID control(Named FuzzyPID), it dynamically adjusts PID parameters at every control cycle while achieving seamless control output (MV). This enables a prompt response to disturbances and interference, stabilizing the intended control performance even in adverse environments, which leads to energy savings and lower production costs.
In addition to this rule-based PID control, SuperG supports a wide variety of control methods, including pure fuzzy control and multi-loop PID control.

Engineering Tool for Multivariable Controllers (IconView)
Our multivariable controllers are programmable controllers, and we provide an entirely in-house developed tool called as the engineering tool necessary for programming. Its features include:
- Adoption of FBD (Function Block Diagram) Programming Method and Abundant Calculation Functions: Complex programs can be easily constructed.
- On-Field Oriented Functions: IconView features an easy-to-use trend display function that allows long-term data information to be easily displayed in real-time, with arbitrary data storable over the long term. Various parameters can be changed even while system control is running. Therefore, IconView is a highly efficient tool for on-field adjustment (test runs), especially for process control tuning.
